USE THAT SPOON FOR CARPET STAINS!

spooning up a carpet stain Did you know that a spoon is the tool of choice to start removing a carpet stain?

Well, there’s several other steps but preparation is key so here’s a quick review of carpet care:

Stain Removal Guide

The four-step system of stain removal

Regular carpet care is important if you want to enjoy your carpet for many years to come. Regular vacuum cleaning is recommended at least twice per week during normal wear; this helps ensure rich, radiant colours and prevents loose dirt becoming embedded. If possible, use a brush vacuum cleaner or one with a brush attachment because, with these, even embedded dirt can be removed without trouble. However, if staining should occur please follow the four-step system below.

STEP 1  Remove loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner. Dried-in substances should first be carefully removed with a spoon or the back of a knife, then simply brushed or vacuumed out. If liquid, blot up as much as possible with absorbent white cloth or paper immediately.

Vacuum Recommendations for Soft Carpet 2015

Tigressa Cherish, Tigressa Soft Style, and Innovia Touch carpets require specific vacuums to maintain their resiliency and boost their longevity.  Use the wrong vacuum and not only will it be difficult to push/pull, but it will also take years off of your new carpet by beating it up too hard.

THE BIG THREE things to look for in a vacuum to safely maintain your soft carpet still hold true:

  1. Wide wheels – the vacuum wheels should not sink into the carpet or else your beater bar will beat up your carpet too much
  2. Depth adjustment – look for a vacuum with an adjustable height on the beater bar
  3. Lightweight – not only does it make your life easier, but it helps save your carpet by keeping the vacuum riding on top of the carpet instead of sinking in and beating it too hard

Remember, just like if you were to buy a high-end car and invest in all of the tools needed to maintain that car, you should invest in a good vacuum that meets THE BIG THREE criteria for your new soft carpet.  Entry-level vacuums that have all of THE BIG THREE criteria start at only around $150.  We strongly suggest that you invest in the right vacuum and get in the habit of the right care program for your new flooring.

If you find that your current vacuum doesn’t glide effortlessly over your new soft carpet, check to see it meets THE BIG THREE of vacuum criteria listed above.

See the files below for carpet manufacturer vacuum recommendations for your new soft carpet.  Not all vacuum models will be up-to-date, but if you follow THE BIG THREE, you will be on the right track to flooring care success!

Notice, no DYSON vacuum cleaner is recommended.  The use of any vacuum with too much suction or too much beater bar will likely damage your carpet & void your carpet warranty.  If you submit a carpet warranty claim, the inspector will ask you very specific questions about what you use to maintain your carpet and how you use it.
